Linehaul (LH) Supervisor

Position Type: Full-time

The candidate will work closely with the Linehaul and Operations teams to improve service, productivity and profitability in the ground linehaul network nationally.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Focus on key linehaul initiatives to improve service and reduce cost.
• Daily measurement, monitoring and management of on-time performance, costs, and capacity utilization of ground linehauls and variance analysis for JCC LH.
• Establishes/implements productivity, quality and cost measurements & strategies to achieve desired operational results.
• Work with Hubs and Terminals/Branches to optimize trailer utilization and reduce damages.
• Scheduling of linehauls within the assigned geographic area of responsibility.
• Manage the day to day operation of the JCC ground linehaul, rerouting linehauls, as necessary, to meet operational changes and emergencies.
• Comply with Federal, Provincial, Transport of Dangerous Goods, etc. regulations and the Collective Agreement(s).
• Conducting Driver route audits.
• Review service and performance issue with Vendors.
• Applying the appropriate leadership/management style to motivate staff.
• Timely delivery of reporting information to Management.
• Responsible for the timely and thorough investigation and reporting of linehaul motor vehicle collisions.
• Maintenance management and planning for all JCC linehaul equipment.
• Daily reporting of JCC linehaul performance exceptions.
• Work with sales team to ensure linehaul capacity for growth.
• On call to deal with after hours linehaul issues.
• Management of linehaul financial processes including the coding and tracking of invoices.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• On-time arrival and departure of linehauls.
• Maintain targeted minimum capacity utilization on all linehauls.
• Identify, investigate and correct linehaul service failures, in conjunction with operations.
• 100% on time delivery of reporting information.
• Load quality control.
• On time dispatch of all JCC ground linehauls.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Demonstrated drive & initiative
• Strong PC skills - proven ability to develop & use spreadsheets for performance analysis
• Proven ability to deliver results within time constraints
• Proven planning & organizational skills
• Ability to travel as required and work evenings/nights (24 hr., 7 day/week on-call) • 3-5 years transportation industry experience in a management capacity
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Assertive with demonstrated probing skills
• Demonstrated profit orientation, business sense.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Demonstrated understanding of linehaul operations
• College or University designation in an appropriate discipline.
• Experience operating class one vehicle. • Thorough knowledge of transportation regulations and licensing requirements in all transited Provinces.
